The Key To Health Is Primal Eating

Tigers don’t eat salad. Cows don’t eat meat. And when animals don’t eat according to nature’s design, they quickly become sick.

It’s the same with humans. Nature didn’t design us to eat a lot of bread, pasta, rice, refined cereals, sugary foods, preservatives and additives. Those so-called foods were not part of our natural diets thousands of years ago.

Humans didn’t start eating a low-protein, low-nutrient diet until the Agricultural Revolution began about 10,000 years ago. And the result of eating this unnatural diet has been epidemic rates of heart disease, cancer, obesity, and diabetes.

In other words, the modern diet has led to a major decline in human health…

A study from Cambridge University proves it. Researchers showed that after agriculture became dominant around 7,000 years ago, people became weaker, less active and slower [1].

Even today, when native peoples switch to a modern, Western diet, they become fat, slow and tired.

And they develop all of our modern health issues like obesity, heart disease, tooth decay, osteoporosis, depression, diabetes and cancer.

But returning to what I call primal nutrition can turn that around. It can also help you shed extra weight and stay healthy.

And eating like a caveman is simple. I give my patients these two keys to primal nutrition:

Firstly, eat more high-quality protein. Modern dietary guidelines recommend only about two ounces. But I suggest you eat one gram of protein for every one pound of lean muscle mass in your body. So if you weigh 160 pounds and have 20% body fat, you have 128 pounds of lean muscle. That means your goal is about 4.5 ounces of protein a day. This controls your appetite, and triggers your body to shed fat and build lean muscle.

Secondly, eat natural, unprocessed foods from the plant and animal world. They will still be loaded with essential nutrition. That means sticking to fresh, organic produce, pastured eggs, grass-fed beef and wild-caught fish.

Following the popular Paleo diet is a good way to get started with the details of eating the primal way. Our Paleo ancestors didn’t gorge themselves on Big Agra’s grains, oils, sugars and refined carbs. They relied on meat, fish, eggs, nuts, fruits and berries.

But here’s where many of my patients get tripped up. They eliminate cereals, pasta, bread, rice, vegetable oils, and sugar. But soon they get bored eating just “meat and vegetables.”

You need a good guide when you’re learning to eat the Paleo way. That’s why I recommend the PaleoHacks Cookbook.

It’s full of fresh and delicious recipes. Some of my own favorite Paleo recipes are in it, too.

And this is different from other cookbooks, because you’ll also discover:

  • How to enjoy Paleo sandwiches… chocolate… pasta… pancakes;
  • Your own Paleo shopping list showing you exactly what to get at the store; and
  • A 30-day meal plan.
