Smartwatch makers Pebble have launched an app store for their wearable device for iPhone users, with an Android version of the marketplace coming "very, very soon."

The Pebble smartwatch.

In a blog post published Monday, Pebble says the app store will feature more than 1,000 apps, broken down into categories such as Tools & Utilities, Notifications or Watchfaces.

ESPN, Foursquare, Pandora and Yelp are among the high-profile outlets providing apps for Pebble. Foursquare and Yelp are now available, while ESPN and Pandora are still in the works.

The addition of an app store arrives with a new update to the Pebble software that unlocks new features on the smartwatch including an accelerometer and persistent storage.

Last month, the company started shipping the latest version of their smartwatch, Pebble Steel, which boasts a sleeker, steel body and Corning Gorilla Glass.
