Peace Pagoda Horizont by tourtrophy This was taken with my Soviet made Horizont camera from the late 60s. I had picked it up from an eBay seller in Czech Republic. The camera is very well made and is built almost like a T-34 tank. In fact, I think its build quality rivals those German cameras from the same era. However, it ’s a frustration at best when it comes to rewinding the film. I managed to jam my first roll of film and destroyed it. This photo was from my 2nd roll and I almost had a similar disaster when I rewound the film. The resulting exposure is not even at all as you can see. All in all, its handling is nothing near the Hasselblad X-pan. In fact, this is probably the cheapest panoramic film camera you could find from the used market. I wanted an X-pan but it just cost too much. It’s also fully electronics. That means that when the electronics fails, the whole camera would become a door stopper. On the other hand, this Horizont camera is fully mechanical. I think it would definitely outlast me.
